Finance Officer

We are looking for a new finance officer, following retirement. The person would be responsible for the day to day financial administration of BTTC. This will include providing support with various tasks to ensure that the financial accounts are up to date and accurate using Xero. On-the-job training will be provided as part of the induction to familiarise you with relevant systems. Ideally the person should be have had experience and formal training in accounting plus exposure to an accounting software system. An interest in the aims and objectives of the club and sport would be a plus.

Job Overview

Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC) is a unique and award winning club that offers table tennis for all
ages and abilities. We prioritise working with people who have least access but would benefit most
from playing and being part of the BTTC community.
You will be responsible to the Founder Director for the day to day financial administration across the
organisation. This will involve providing support with various tasks to ensure that the financial
accounts are up to date and accurate using cloud based software Xero. On-the-job training will be
provided as part of the induction to familiarise you with relevant systems. Ideally the person should
be have had experience and formal training in accounting plus exposure to an accounting software
system. An interest in the aims and objectives of the club and sport would be a plus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Regularly reconcile all bank accounts and petty cash
  • Maintaining the Purchase Ledger
  • Paying Creditors
  • Maintaining accounting stock records of bats, balls and kit
  • Classify income and expenditure according to the correct restricted fund or unrestricted fund.
  • Reconcile restricted funds periodically.
  • Reconcile Wage & Pension and suspense accounts
  • Classify income and expenditure to the correct nominal account.
  • Record Invoice, Grant, donation, Subscription and other income correctly,
  • Complete and issue Sales invoices and follow up unpaid invoices
  • Keep track of Subscription Income via our Direct Debit platform.
  • Record donations made via our Donation Platform
  • Analyse cash received monthly and bank. Analyse debit card receipts.
  • Administer Gift Aid and claim a refund from HMRC.

Payroll

  • Ensure that personal payroll data is accurate and up to date.
  • Submit payroll monthly data to HMRC and complete a back-up of payroll software.
  • Pay and notify staff of payments.
  • Complete payroll accounting.

Reporting

  • Prepare income & expenditure and other reports as requested by the Founder Director or Treasurer.

Other

  • Liaise with the administrator, BTTC coaches, volunteers, customers and suppliers on any financial matters
  • Liaise with The Founder Director, The Treasurer and The Independent Examiner at year end to produce final accounts after completing year-end adjustments.
  • Undertake any training and professional development as and when required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job title, as may be determined by the Founder Director.
